Profile

The National Society of Professional Engineers has more that 60,000 members nationwide in all disciplines of engineering. The Society, headquartered outside Washington, D.C., represents the professional rather than technical interests of engineers. The Society's members are licensed professional engineers who have attained that status by graduating from accredited engineering schools and passing a series of two rigorous state administered examinations and fulfilling a mandatory work experience requirement.

NSPE supports strong licensing and ethical requirements for engineers. With affiliated organizations in all 50 state capitals, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, the Society is a major lobbying presence on engineering related issues at the state and national levels.

NSPE also maintains a strong public service program through its national MATHCOUNTS competition and through sponsorship of National Engineers Week. Both programs reach hundreds of thousands of school children throughout the country teaching them the value and fun in studying science and mathematics.
